what do yoh use your notebook, moleskine for?

I'm wondering how everyone uses their little black Books? Sketching, painting, writing, diary, notes, to do list, memorable quotes, memories, observations... etc. I want to hear if all and see pictures if possible. I'm really curious as I have a ton of notebooks that I can't seem to fill up.. or even start.

They used to be hard to get--you had to order them either from the company or from someone who sold them. I started off ordering mine from a writing supply company in the early 1990s. It's a lot nicer now to be able to get them at a Book store.

Back then, I had several different ones. I used one for an appointment book. I had another I used for just jotting notes and making observations about things I wanted to remember later. I had yet a third I used for note taking when I read things, because I read a lot, but I worked in a library, so I'd often take notes on stuff and do supplemental research, and it had to be done the old fashioned way, rather than with a search engine

The one I have in my purse now is just a general jotter--it's got everything from phone numbers to instructions on how to do things to notes to myself about stuff I want to talk over with my doctor. I also keep 3x5 cards in the pocket, so I can give people something to write on without tearing up my notebook.
