Light Wedge

How To Make Your Own Lighted Nocks At Home!
Do you think you only have to spend top dollar to get decent lighted nocks? With a little imagination and creativity you can get frugal and make your own lighted nocks at home! However, these will only work for the carbon arrows and not Easton arrows. Nevertheless, it is a good savings made!
Materials needed
First, you need to gather the supplies you will need to make your own lighted nocks. You need
- an old nock (these lighted nocks can be salvaged from an existing arrow)
- a new replaceable nock, which is preferably clear and foresin (in any color of choice)
- Light with a push button (twisty ones can function poorly in terms of performance
- Driller
How to proceed?
First, you need to take the battery out of the light device. Then you need to slide it into the foresin nock. Now, you need to sand the nock down so that it fits relatively loosely into the arrow. It should not be too tight. The attachment strength can be gauged in the following manner. You ideally do not want your finished lighted nocks to be too wiggly as then they would fall off. Neither do you want them to be excessively tight as that would make taking out the nock difficult. Once you have the fit perfect, take the driller and drill right through the back of the nocks. This will create a passage through your nock which will result in the end lighted nocks. Creating a hole through the nock will enable the light device to shine brighter than it already is.
Cutting the old nock
Next, you need to cut off about 3/8th of an inch from the back portion of the old nock, which you salvaged from the arrow earlier. It should be a very small piece. You can use a regular saw for this or some other cutting device. Once you cut this nock, we have all the materials needed to make our very own lighted nocks. Next, you need to test fit this back portion of the old nock. Try putting the battery into this nock piece and see if it fits. If it doesn't check the size and cut out some more if you need to. Fitting is very important to ensure the success of your lighted nocks.
Preparing the stop
Now you need to use the back nock portion which was cut and then glue it to the battery end. Move the other end of the battery through the foresin nock. The back portion of the nock will act as your wedge for the finished lighted nocks. The pressure created out of shooting the arrow will turn the battery on automatically. Next, place some superglue or some fast adhesive on the battery at the point where the glass joins with the plastic. To ensure the glue is exactly at this point, try placing some glue on the table and then rolling the battery on it. This ensures a perfect adhesive action for your lighted nocks.
That's it - your lighted nocks are now ready to be attached to an arrow. You can use a carbon arrow for this one only which can be a little restrictive. If you want more versatility then buy store bought lighted nocks but of course these will cost you more.
