what is the open Book looking icon appearing in the ac/heat panel on a 97 range rover?
i have a 97 range rover, on the panel that displays the temperature, after a few minutes an icon that resembles a open book with a ! next to it appears on the panel that controls the ac/heat? what is this telling me.Secondly, how do i turn the heat on and off, i dont see anything that allows me to turn the heat/ac on and off. where is the controls for this?

It is telling you to open up the owner's manual to see what it means.
You will also find complete instructions in the manual for operating the climate control system. In a Land Rover, you don't turn heat on and off, you simply adjust the temperature to the one you like, be it hot, medium, cold, or what have you. The heat and/or cold will adjust accordingly. You may also choose the vents you wish the conditioned air to be released from, and you may choose the fan speed as well.
Likewise, you may choose to pick a single temperature and have the system automatically keep the air inside the vehicle at that temperature.
Read the manual. That is what it is telling you to do.
